Since 1987 Eastport Maine has celebrated the end of the summer with a festival, a gathering, and a homage to our local resources. At the center of the celebration is the Atlantic salmon, raised in the cold waters of Passamaquoddy Bay.
While food is the main theme of the weekend, enjoy live music, arts and crafts vendors, galleries, gift shops, museums, locally brewed beers (wine too) all weekend.
On Seafood Saturday, enjoy crab rolls (to benefit the Eastport Senior Center), blueberry cake (to benefit the Peavey Library), Maine farm fresh oysters and smoked salmon ($). Explore the architecture of our historic downtown as 6 home owners welcome visitors to their homes of various styles ($). Small boat rides around bay and salmon pens ($). Free all-ages activities include a youth fishing derby, games and art activities, a touch tank and more.
The centerpiece of Sunday is always the salmon barbecue with salmon donated by Cooke Aquaculture. Each diner gets a meal of grilled salmon, Raye’s Winter Garden Mustard sauce, roasted potatoes, veg, homemade rolls, and a Maine blueberry dessert. We eat under the big tent with our friends, neighbors, and visitors. We gaze at the breathtaking view of Passamaquoddy Bay just a few feet away as we enjoy our meals. With the purchase of the dinner, you can enjoy an educational boat ride to the salmon pens in Cobscook Bay (space is limited, advance dinner purchase recommended).
